A Gilbert dental implant crown does the same thing as other crowns. It is designed to be placed on to a prepped tooth. If you see us, however, you will notice just one difference. In our office, when we join the dental crown with the implant, it is not necessary to file down the tooth. All we do is fasten an abutment. This term is quite common in the bridge building industry. Dentists use it also to describe the material that connects the implant and crown. We use it instead of preparing your tooth for the crown. Gilbert dentist Fotolia_7063199_XS.jpg

There are great advantages to having a Gilbert dental implant. It provides key protection to your jaw. It stops erosion from the jaw bone. You know what would take place if we didn't do this. If not, it will eventually die or decay.

The addition of bridges and dentures is also not without risk to the bone. This is because, for us to go through replacing damaged and lost teeth, bone cells are going to be affected. Particularly the ones that you find around the root of the missing tooth.

This does not happen with a Gilbert dental implant. What we do is provide you with an implant that mimics an actual tooth. The root we plant into your jaw will be cylindrical and made of titanium. It takes several months for the bone matter to grow around the root's ridges and accept it as its own.

Don't worry if you're wearing bridges or dentures. It is okay if you have had dentures for many years or even a bridge, you can still have a dental implant. Even injured jaw bone can be fixed to receive a dental implant. We will try to fix the affect area of jaw by filling it with bone matter from elsewhere and giving it some time to heal. When strengthening your jaw, we usually take bone either from your jaw itself or hip.

After a while, when your jaw is nice and strong, you are ready for the attachment. Finally, we complete the treatment with a nice shiny dental crown. This is a tried and tested procedure. We are, in effect, giving you a prosthetic dental implant crown that will last for a very long time. Best of all, it won't injure your jaw and it will give you a dazzling smile.
