A dental crown in Gilbert has to be fitted exactly to your tooth. Not only that, but it must also complement the look and feel of the teeth you already have, especially in terms of color. Gilbert dentist Fotolia_7059513_XS.jpg

Once you've got your dental crown, you want to keep it for many years. Forever even. Because of this, you must have extremely strong crowns.

I stress to my lab technicians that they should spend a lot of time on making sure the crowns are dependable. These people know what they are doing. They will see to it that what we're going to attach to your teeth will give you value for money I can't ask for more than that in my profession — helping you with a strong porcelain crown that also blends in with your other teeth and looks wonderful.

But with seating or installation of the permanent dental crown you have to wait for a while as we make your permanent crown.

Your tooth also needs some preparation work. The area has to be primed for the porcelain crown to be placed on it. To make the installation easier, we need to cut away some of your original tooth matter. And you will want to be comfortable and have your smile look good in the meantime. Basically, what we do is put in a temporary crown.

Here in my Gilbert dental office, the temporary crown we use is very reliable. It is good and solid enough to perform for many weeks, probably even a month. While you wait with this temporary crown, we will be making the permanent one. But there is one thing about your temp crown. The last thing we want is to give you is too strong a temporary crown. It cannot be so strong that I might have a tough time wrenching it out.

In creating your crown, we have to get the exact proportions of your tooth by making an impression of it. We do it to the affected tooth as well as the one opposite it. By doing this, you can still dig into the finer foods that you may prefer.

It allows us to make perfectly evened teeth. This is to let you chew to your heart's content. Then we put the material into the mold so we have an exact fit for the temporary dental crown. We then must glue the crown on using a cement that is strong but not permanent.

Your temporary crowns, though strong, are still not permanent. Ideally, you should avoid challenging your temp crowns by chewing on hard things like caramels, or other things like ice and carrots. Just for the time while the lab technician completes the job on your permanent crown. You are welcome at my office any time.
