People drink a lot of coffee these days. Much more than before. There could be many reasons why. Possibly because of the numerous executive-style coffee shops that provide workaholics with their daily buzz. Maybe the demands of the job are such that people need coffee simply to keep their eyes open. We may have different reasons for drinking coffee, although we know that it has some bad side-effects. It causes a strain on our hearts, we dehydrate ourselves by making several trips to the bathroom and it spoils our teeth by discoloration. Brushing is very important. If we don't do it properly, we get halitosis, which is a glorified term for not-so-grandiose bad breath. Gilbert dentist Fotolia_6993427_XS.jpg

Smoking with your coffee is even worse. In fact, this is a major cause of discoloration of your teeth. This is something that is affecting too many youngsters. In these days of colas, your teeth are bombarded from all sides. Drinks such as sodas play a big role in staining your teeth. Older people tend to suffer more from discolored teeth while genetics also play a part.

You also have people, like baseball players, who like to chew tobacco. This is a sure-fire cause for teeth discoloration. The tar that comes from tobacco goes into the teeth's protective enamel and makes us look like coal miners from a 70's flick. I am happy, though, that the dangers of tobacco are well known, the result being that many people have had enough.

Remember sodas? Many of you know this procedure. You drop a tooth into a vessel of cola or any kind of soda. The carbonated drink will erode the tooth in no time at all. If you ask me, I don't think for a minute that we have the willpower to stay away from these fizzy thirst-quenchers. We can try to minimize the damage by drinking out of a straw. By doing that, we are able to reduce the amount of soda that pass through our teeth. The result is less staining. It is shame I can't use a straw with steaming hot drinks, like my coffee and green tea.

If discoloration is bothering you and you don't like teeth that are discolored, there is something you can do. Even if they are heavily stained, I can help. Take a trip to my Gilbert dentist office and let me see the damage. After a good look, I can see whether a nice cleaning can do the job or we should take your teeth out…

Hah! Fooled you! Basically, there is the possibility of having Gilbert dental veneers. There are many benefits to having veneers. They have a long life span, won't harm your teeth and they are stain-proof. How's that for a remedy?
