Two people are seated next to each other in the park. The cool afternoon breeze is making goosebumps on his arms. Gilbert dentist Fotolia_6875841_XS.jpg

He contemplates, "I'm just gonna throw caution to the wind and see what happens." Gets off the bench and kneels down. Attempts to get the ring from his pocket. Drops it because his fingers have sauerkraut on them.

The ring plunges to the ground…

He is ashamed to look at her, not having imagined in his mind the unpredictable graceless turn of events. He's stunned to see her tears. She hugs him firmly and tells him softly, "Yes, I will marry you, sauerkraut and all!"

You could say they lived happily ever after. But marriage is an enduring venture. We have to work to keep the magic going. Lots of people get thoughtless when they've been married for many years. Unaware that our partners want unstructured romance. Even if they don't say it in so many words.

A little thrill from time to time makes them feel special. Permanent faithfulness is what the marriage contract is all about. Given that, let's pledge to become good at bringing about their happiness. Short of learning to do tricks, we should leave no stone unturned to make certain that they laugh (or, at the very least, smile) each day.

Okay, so maybe you're the most boring person in the world. What you lack in wit, you can compensate for by being caring. Caring for them and caring for yourself.

Yes, you read that right. Tidy yourself up. Being a parent or grandparent doesn't mean you have the privilege of looking your age. Go to the salon. Keep your hair tidy. Go shopping. Buy clothes that give you that tasteful yet ageless look. Makeover a feature you never thought of making over before.

Make an appointment to come to my dentist office in Gilbert and I will give you a mouth makeover that will leave your spouse shivering with glee. When I'm finished getting the Gilbert porcelain veneers put on, you'll look as young as you were the day you got engaged. I'll sort out your teeth. You can take care of the rest.
