The other day I just happened to read something really fascinating that gave you a list of ways to put the brakes on gum disease. They provided an amazing piece of fact in that gum disease is so common that 80% of people suffer from it. I wouldn't be surprised if the data was based upon my experience with patients.

I'd like you to meet Jennifer Love Hewitt. She is a very talented artist and decided to get her start in showbiz in Los Angeles, where she felt she could try to pursue music. Instead, though, her path took a different route and she became an actress. I, for one, think she is a good actress. She has had a few albums but most of her time is devoted to acting.

There was an article about her once and she confessed she has no idea how to ride a bike. That is just so hard to believe! I don't know Jennifer Love Hewitt personally, neither have I worked on her teeth her, but she is quite a good-looking woman and she is fortunate enough to have a dazzling smile.

She could have gum disease, not that anyone but those closest to her would have any idea.

Do you know if you have healthy gums? Well, if you do, then they tend not to bleed during brushing. They should look pink but with no inflammation. Healthy gums should also be nice and firm. It is my job to always watch gum pockets and see how deep they are. Any good dentist will know from looking at your gum pockets how far the gum disease has penetrated and what should be done in the future. The thing about pockets is, once they form, they stay but hopefully they don't get deeper. Bone loss from the jaw will cause gum pockets and after many years you find that your teeth don't have enough bone for the roots to hold on to and that is the reason many folks start to see their teeth fall off the older they get.

As far as I am concerned, I would prefer you not to have problems. So, I trust in things that prevent you from visiting my office.

I think a good oral home care program is something that always helps people have strong and healthy teeth. That's not all. There have been cases where patients would make an appointment with me and I'll do some special cleanings that will also help.
